Ex- governor Pat McCrory has just conceded the 2016 governor election to Democrat Roy Cooper after a recount in Durham County spurred on by Republican election complaints. McCrory is the first North Carolina governor to lose a re-election bid.
According to governor.nc.gov, Pat McCrory has approved tax reform, updated NC’s unemployment insurance system, created more than 300,000 new jobs, and raised teachers’ salaries during his term as governor.
“We now should do everything we can to support the seventh-fifth governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper,” McCrory said in his concession video.
He urged those watching to pray for the new governor and president-elect, along with their families.
Just before the conclusion of the message McCrory said, “Thank you for the honor to serve the great state of North Carolina.”
